01 What's AGV?
AGV is the abbreviation of Automated Guided Vehicle, which refers to the transport vehicle equipped with electromagnetic or optical automatic guided device, capable of travelling along the prescribed guiding path, with safety protection and various load transfer functions. AGV with automatic load transfer device can automatically complete the whole process of cargo pick and place and horizontal operation under the command of control system.

02 Advantages of AGV
① High degree of automation: controlled by computer, electric control equipment, magnetic gas induction SENSOR, laser reflective plate and so on.
② Charging automation: when the power of AGV is about to be exhausted, it will send a command to the system to request charging, and then automatically go to the charging place to 'queue' for charging after the system allows it.
③ It is beautiful and can improve the degree of appreciation, thus improving the image of the enterprise.
④ Convenient, reduce floor space, AGV can shuttle back and forth in each workshop.

03 Application of AGV
① Warehousing
Warehousing is the earliest application of AGV. Warehouses are specialised for storing goods, which need to be transferred regardless of the outgoing and incoming storage. In the past, the transfer and loading and unloading is done manually, which is a big workload and takes a long time. The appearance of AGV improves the efficiency and reduces the burden of manually transferring the goods.
② Manufacturing
AGVs have been used in production lines in the manufacturing industry to efficiently, accurately and flexibly complete material transfer tasks. AGVs can show their charms on the production floor as they can automatically go back and forth to transport items after the staff has set up the travelling paths. It can improve the efficiency and ensure the safety of goods delivery.
③ Post offices, libraries, harbour terminals and airports
The amount of delivery of goods changes greatly and is highly dynamic, AGV's parallel operation, automation, intelligence and flexibility can well meet the handling requirements of the above occasions.
④ Tobacco, medicine, food, chemical industry
AGV can well meet the special requirements of clean, safe and emission-free pollution of handling operations.
⑤ Dangerous places and special industries
There are some flammable and explosive items as well as corrosive items in our life, and the hosting of these items is usually dangerous. In order to improve the safety, they can be transferred by AGV to reduce the chance of accidental risk during manual transfer. Besides, it is also widely used in other public places such as ports, airports, special industries and logistics centres etc. AGV is fast, lightweight and flexible, which can achieve automatic transportation between narrow alleys, workshops and warehouses, and at the same time reduces the requirements for ground loads, and is not subject to the limitations of the warehouse height and space.

04 Guiding Methods for AGV
① Folding magnet gyro guidance
This kind of AGV is installed with special magnetic position sensors, and small magnets are installed on the ground along the running path. AGV relies on the position sensors to sense the position of small magnets, and then uses gyroscope technology to continuously control the running direction of unmanned trucks, so as to realize automatic handling.
② Folding electromagnetic induction guidance
Electromagnetic induction guidance is generally on the ground, along the pre-set travelling path buried wires to travel, this electromagnetic induction guidance navigation method is currently used in the vast majority of commercialised AGVS, especially for large and medium-sized AGVs.
③ Folding laser guidance
This kind of AGV is installed with a rotatable laser scanner, and laser positioning signs with highly reflective reflective plates are installed on the walls or pillars along the running path. AGV relies on the laser scanner to emit laser beams, and then accepts the laser beams reflected back from the surrounding positioning signs, and realises automatic handling through its own calculation.
As long as there is a need to transport goods, can be applied to AGV, I believe that in the future, AGV will have a broader development.
