1.Spray Glaze


This method uses compressed air or centrifugal force, so that the glaze paste in the gun outlet atomized into micro-droplets, deposited or splashed on the fine green billet to be glazed. The parts of the billet that need to be glazed is glazed, this method of glazing is called spray glaze.

Spray glaze is currently the most widely used method of sanitary porcelain production. Hand spray glaze was used more often in the past, and now it has developed to spray glaze with manipulators and the use of electrostatic glaze.

2、Glaze Dipping

We first put the finishing bottle blanks need to be glazed into the glaze paste. After lifting up, the glaze paste will be adhered to the part of the body to be glazed, so as to achieve the purpose of glazing.

This method requires the specific gravity of the glaze paste: transparent glaze is generally 1.42-1.44; opalescent glaze is generally about 1.45-1.46. The time of glaze dipping varies with different products.

Before glaze dipping, we need to apply melted paraffin to the parts of the product that do not need to be glazed, so that the parts of the body coated with paraffin will not stick to the glaze when dipping.


After dipping the glaze, we have to scrape off the glaze from the parts that need to be in contact with the mat board during firing, such as the bottom of the water tank type products, in order to prevent the high temperature from bonding together with the mat board to produce sticking scar defects.

The container for the glaze slurry can be a wooden container or a cement pool. After each day of glaze dipping, the remaining slurry in the pool should be re-boxed (120 mesh sieve) to remove iron before returning to use.


3. Pouring Glaze

In the production of sanitary ceramics, the method is mainly used for the larger shape or need to glaze the product inside. Specific practice is: first put the product on the bracket can be turned over, and pour the glaze paste into the curved tube to be glazed. Then pour out, the inner wall of the pipe is glazed.


The manipulator glaze belongs to the automatic glaze spraying, its full set of equipment mainly includes the blank transmission linkage line, bear blank platform that can control the angle of rotation, spray gun and its control system.


There are two kinds of manipulators used at present. One is a demonstration type manipulator, before the trial, first by a skilled glazier manually control the gun on the hand of the glaze. After completing a full set of operations, the computer will memorize these operating procedures in the machine, the future operation can be directly from the manipulator to complete as it is. Another is the programming type manipulator, the use of the first need to be programmed by the programmer, according to the product glazing process parameters, programming the machine can identify the program, enter the computer, the computer that is able to manipulate the manipulator according to the specified procedures for glazing.

The glazing manipulator can complete six-axis movement, reproducible error can be less than 0.1mm.

By controlling the rotational position of the clamping plate of the placed blanks, it can make the blanks in the correct position.


The manipulator can also move around the blank. The operator can utilize the control panel to control the state of the blank, and the manipulator can automatically control the state of the blank by simply entering the code of the blank through the keyboard.

As the manipulator spray glaze is still the use of spray guns for glazing, its glaze paste atomization, the principle of deposition and hand glazing is not much different.

Therefore, the glaze paste used in the process parameters, glaze thickness and so on is also the same with the hand glaze.


With mechanical glazing, the operator can stay away from the glazing cabinet, and the operation environment is greatly improved. The difference in the quality of spraying glaze of each product is very small, the physical labor of workers is reduced, and the production efficiency is improved. The productivity of manual glazing is generally 100-120 pieces/man shift, and the productivity of each production line of manipulator glazing is generally 400-700 pieces/table-shift.


However, manipulator glazing is a large investment and technically demanding, and the quality of glazing is related to the appropriateness of the program. When changing the production varieties, the operation program needs to be re-modified.


Of course, the operator may also input the shape of some common blanks into the memory of the automatic blank recognition equipment in advance.


When the shape of the blank is compared with the standard shape which is entered and stored in the memory of the automatic blank recognition equipment, the manipulator can decide the spray glaze state which is adopted.


The automatic glazing machine and the automatic identification device for blanks are formed as a single unit, which can automatically identify the blanks and use the corresponding method to automatically glaze the bottom and the back where no glaze can be sprayed.
